Roadway Maintenance currently administers the operation of
two swing bridges; the A. Max Brewer Causeway Bridge, which
spans the Indian River in Titusville, and the Mathers Bridge,
which spans the Banana River in South Merritt Island. At present,
this program employs 11 people. The staff provides a 24-hour,
7-Day a week presence at the Max A. Brewer Bridge in Titusville,
and a weekday schedule of 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and 24-hour
monitoring on weekends at the Mathers Bridge in Merritt Island.
