John is a graduate of the University of Florida (BS in Environmental Engineering). He is also a graduate of Merritt Island High School, and has lived in Brevard County since 1963.

Prior to serving as Director of Transportation Engineering, John worked in the private sector for a local engineering firm. He has served as Director since 1996 and has overseen numerous transportation projects including many miles of sidewalks, numerous intersection improvements and turn lane installations.

Other projects worth noting would include the East Connector Road in Port St. John, the construction of Dairy Road, and the widening of Malabar Road (Phases I & II).
