Road & Bridge Maintenance is responsible for the care and repair of approximately 1177 lineal miles of roadway within Brevard County, and currently employs more than 150 people.

Road & Bridge Maintenance is divided geographically, with three offices in North, Central and South Brevard. Two draw bridges (Titusville at State Road 406 and S. Merritt Island, on Tropical Trail), also fall under the jurisdiction of Roadway Maintenance.

In addition to maintaining the structural integrity of County-maintained roads (i.e., repair of potholes, washouts, etc.), activities include:

  • Mowing within the right-of-way and trimming shrubs/trees as needed to maintain visibility.
  • Maintaining all County jurisdictional ditches and related drainage structures.
  • Preparation of these roads for resurfacing and paving and coordination of work through private contractors.
  • Reviewing newly constructed roads, prior to acceptance by Brevard County, for compliance with all standards and requirements.
